Virtual leagues
Virtual leagues are competitions aside the official competition within OnFire. As its name says, virtual leagues are virtual within the virtual world of OnFire. Players do not get injure, or get tired neither receive experience or confidence, i.e. it is like these matches never have been played. Virtual matches are just matches for fun.
You can join to at most two virtual leagues and if the virtual league schedule don't match with the schedule of any official competition. Joining a virtual league is very easy, you just have to search a non-started virtual league and join that league. If there are not enough teams you will receive a message when the league starts. If you have joined a non-started virtual league you can leave that league for instance, to join to another league. The composition of the groups and the schedule of the league is randomly decided when there are enough teams in the league.
You can check the available virtual leagues in the link "Competitions" -> "Virtual Leagues" -> "Free virtual leagues". You can also see the virtual leagues you are registered in the link "Competitions" -> "Virtual leagues" -> "My virtual leagues".
When you see a free virtual league notice that the schedule corresponds to the timezone of the virtual league. For instance, if you are looking at a virtual league with timezone in Argentina but you are in Spain, if the league schedule is 21:00, the matches would be played at your 2:00 of the next day.
There are different types of virtual leagues. For instance, there are virtual leagues of 8, 16, 32 or until 128 teams with groups of 4 or 8 teams. A virtual league has a regular season and a playoffs. In the regular season you play two matches against all the teams of your group (one at your home and another as visitor). Depending on the number of teams participants in the league, there will be more or less playoffs, for example in a virtual league of 8 teams, 4 teams will go for the finals and in a virtual league of 32 teams there will be 8 teams (2 per each group) playing the final rounds.
Marathon leagues
A special type of virtual links are the so called marathon leagues. Marathons are played in knockout format (such as a cup) with the particularity that each 3 hours a new round is played. Up to a maximum of 512 teams can be up to a maximum of 512 teams disputing the competition. Also in marathons does not apply the rule of 2 virtual league team, you can register for a marathon no matter how many virtual league games.
Creating virtual leagues
You can create your own virtual leagues to play with your friends or with anyone. Create a virtual league has a cost that you see in the creation of virtual league page. When you create a new virtual league you have several options to choose:
- Name : You can set the name you want to the league
- Public? : You decide if your virtual league will be public and therefore anyway will be able to register or private and only users who receive an invitation can join your league.
- Matches days : You can choose which days they will be matches in your league. There must be at least 1 days and at most 2 per week.
- Time: Choose the time that matches should be played. The time zone will be the one of your country.
Once created virtual league it will appear in your list of virtual leagues. From there you can access an extra page to manage the league. For example you can send invitations to users so they can join your league or change a new season at the end of league,
Instant matches
You can play instant matches against any team at any time (well, you can not if you're going to play a game in less than 3 hours). To play a game just challenge to an instant match a team connected to OnFire in that moment or accept a challenge from another team. When a team accepts a challenge the instant match will be created and will start in 15 minutes. You can submit your lineup up to 5 minutes before the game starts.
ELO ranking
When you challange to an instant match you can decide if you want a competition or a friendly match. The competition matches count for the OnFire ELO ranking. The ELO ranking is an unofficial ranking that denotes the best team in OnFire. All teams start with a number of ELO points and when you play a competition instant match you will win or lose ELO points depending on the result of the match, but also the significance of your opponent. If your opponent is worse than you you will earn less ELO points if you win but also will lose more ELO point if you lose the match. On the other hand if your opponent is better than you, you will earn more points if you win and will lose less ELO points if you lose. The ELO system is based on the chess ELO system and in particular in a ELO system applied to FIFA national teams http://www.eloratings.net/system.html
